Catherine McCord Larsen, soprano, is a featured soloist in performances of oratorio and chamber music throughout the country. Her most recent appearances include J.S. Bach's Mass in B Minor with the Fresno Community Chorus conducted by Anna Hamre, Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem (German Requiem) with the Mesabi Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sergei Bogza, Poulenc’s Gloria and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2, 'Hymn of Praise' with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra conducted by Henry Charles Smith and Bach’s Weihnachts-Oratorium (Christmas Oratorio) with the Peoria Bach Festival conducted by John Jost in Illinois.

A versatile singer with many years of film and commercial experience, Ms. McCord Larsen is an active member of SAG/AFTRA and can be heard on various motion picture sound track recordings including Almost and Angel, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Empire of the Sun, Grand Canyon, Hook, Simple Twist of Fate and Star Trek Generations.

She has performed several Baroque opera roles in productions presented by the I Nakamichi Early Music Series conducted by Nicholas McGegan and with the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra conducted by Gregory Maldonado.

With a passion for collaboration, Ms. McCord Larsen recently presented a recital of French chamber music for soprano, flute and piano with Minnesota Opera’s principal flutist, Michele Frisch, as part of the Schubert Club “Courtroom Concerts” series at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ms.

McCord Larsen's professional choral affiliations include former memberships in the Dale Warland Singers, Los Angeles Master Chorale and the chamber vocal ensemble, I Cantori. She is also a featured soloist in I Cantori ‘s A Choir of Angels recording of Early Music of the Americas.

Her summer musical activities have encompassed performances with the Carmel and Oregon Bach Festivals conducted by Bruno Weil and Helmuth Rilling and with the Mozart Festival in San Luis Obispo, California. She is a frequent soloist in faculty chamber music recitals, symphonic works and Bach Cantata Sunday services with the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival where she has served as a member of the voice faculty since 2004.

Prior to her recent relocation to the Central Coast of California, Ms. McCord Larsen served on the voice faculty at University of Northwestern-St. Paul where she taught private and class voice for nineteen years. She also was a member of the voice faculty at Glendale Community College in Southern California. A teacher and vocal coach of various singing styles, Ms. McCord Larsen maintains an active membership with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and has sent award-winning students to state-sponsored competitions since 1997. She has extensive experience as a vocal contest judge and clinician for Solo and Ensemble competitions including the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, Thursday Musical and Schubert Club. Ms. McCord Larsen holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of California-Santa Barbara and a Master of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts.
